I particularly love creating some of these more whimsical or cartoonish characters to express different emotions, events or situations. Generally they are colorful, often in primary colors or some of the "non-natural" colors found in acrylic paints. For these paintings, generally I paint a mix of acrylic and gouache on cold press board, then use colored pencil and add details with acrylic or gouache to finalize. The newer paintings in this style sometimes have watercolor effects in the background and were done using watercolors on masa paper as the base painting.
