Inspiration for these paintings derive mainly from plant life... while they often contain some elements similar to "scrollwork", they also have aspects of leaves or flowers. Similar to scrollwork, I enjoy painting them mainly (I think) because they are completely drawn from my own inspiration and not from a study of actual vegetation or still life. I will admit, though, that I will observe vining or creeping plantlife and what I see will find its way as reference into my work.
 | Untitled 2 This is a small work; it was an experimentation in creating abstract florals. I loved how this turned out and was so happy that I got a chance to talk with the customers who purchased it as they walked by the Sidewalk Sale in Sept 09! This is one of my favorites.

 | Green & Tan Floral This could almost go on the Scrolls page, but it is enough floral to warrant being here. I especially love the flowing lines of this piece combined with the free "bleeding" of the watercolors. This is the piece that I used for my business card.

 | Pot o' Gold This is a semi-abstract version of a photograph that I took when at Hearst's Castle earlier this year. We were stopping at a location to hear the tour guide tell a story and my attention caught on this beautiful pot of marigolds that were set along the concrete path. I abstracted the background and created this striking display....
